01. The Story Behind
Alun-Alun Pamulang is more than a public park — it is a symbol of civic pride and a much-needed green space for the people of South Tangerang. As a newly revitalized landmark, it needed more than just functional design; it called for a wayfinding system that could guide, inform, and reflect the local identity. This project was initiated to create a cohesive sign system that blends function with a culturally rooted aesthetic, enhancing both navigation and experience for everyday visitors.
02. The Challange
Despite its modern redesign, the site lacked a clear visual communication system. The challenge was to create signage that not only stands out visually but also adapts to the park's open-air environment, ensuring clarity, consistency, and cultural relevance. The design needed to feel both civic and welcoming — a reflection of the community it serves — while integrating seamlessly with the park’s architecture and natural surrounding
03. The Result
We designed and implemented a comprehensive sign system tailored to the unique layout and public flow of Alun-Alun Pamulang. Key components included:
Modular Wayfinding System: A scalable design system using consistent iconography, typography, and layout to ensure clarity and adaptability across different signage types — from directional poles to information boards.
Culturally-Inspired Visual Language: Graphic elements and type treatments were inspired by local motifs, subtly embedding cultural identity into every sign without overwhelming the function.
